On November 26, 2016 i made my way to a mall in henderson and i notice an Aeropostale store was closing. I quickly looked online to see why it was closing. Aeropostale didn't even announce this store was closing. I figure i would not walk pass a closing sale without buying some clothes. As i walk into the store i asked an employee why they were closing and the employee said Lease was up and Aeropostale doesn't want to renew and that the store hasn't been doing so well. 

The store itself only had 3 final days so it was messy inside and employees wouldn't let me get any inside pictures due to security reasons. But i did take photos of the store outside. I was able to walk away with $290.00 worth of stuff for only $89. It was like an early Christmas to me but most of it will be given as presents.

Lets talk about a store that Sears Thought would work. The store is called The Great Indoors. You may be thinking Bass Pro Shops... Well you are wrong. The Great Indoor featured home decorating, & appliances.

The store closed on September 1, 2012 after Sears announced it was dropping The Great Indoors Concept. in June 2011, Fry's Electronics announced that another location was coming to vegas and would open up in the former Great Indoor site. As i write this Fry's still has the Former Great Indoor site but nothing has been going on as the building and its small parking garage sits empty.

I pass by this center that housed a old Big Kmart almost 5 times a week. I always wanted to write an article on this Kmart and that's why you are reading this. 

The Big Kmart started construction in 1983 as with the entire Center. Once the Center was completed in early 1984. The Big Kmart opened its doors on February 1984. The Big Kmart stayed opened thru construction of a walmart nearby in 1999. Once 2002 hit, Kmart announced that the store would close for good due to the ceiling was leaking. 

This Kmart did not do a liquidation sale. The products that were in the store was moved to a local Super Kmart on Eastern Ave in Henderson Nevada. After the Kmart closed its doors. The center started to have problems with tenates leaving to go across the street to the new walmart Center. 

The landlord tried to lease out the former Kmart after fixing the ceiling but no luck for years. 

In 2011 the Landlord put the Center for sale and as I write this today the center still sits empty other then Burger King which isn't own by the landlord or the Realtor. The Realtor Company calls this center Rainbow Dunes Centre.

HomeGoods (Former Wild Oats Marketplace)

Lets Head over to a Former Wild Oats Marketplace thats now a HomeGoods that had a grand opening today. The store is located right behind the Borders & Sports Authority. The store itself had what you would find at a Whole foods. The only difference was that Wild Oats wasn't own by Whole Foods till 2009. The store was very busy when it was open till around 2006 when Wild Oats started to discontinue lots of products. During that time Hours of Operations were cut back from 7am-11pm to 7am-7pm. That made an impact on the store and the Company. Many people started heading to Whole foods which is farther away or Trader joes which is 5 miles from here. Thats when WholeFoods bought out Wild Oats on February 2007. Whole foods continue operating the Wild Oats Chain by adding more items under the Wild Foods Brand instead and adding the old hours back. The store was just getting business once again till July 2009 when WholeFoods announced that this store was not going to survive the rebrand of WholeFoods from Wild oats. The Decision was to closed the store for good on August 5, 2009. After sitting empty for 7 years. The store had been remodel and is now a HomeGoods that held a grand opening today.

As we look thru the photos, I will remark some of the locations when it was Wild Oats.

Former Sports Authority Henderson NV

Lets head next door from Borders to Sports Authority before they moved to a  Former Sports Chalet  I only been to this store 1 time and i don't remember how the store was sent up. But I do remember the old logo and letters which was different on the street sign but on the store it used the regular old Red letters. Lets take a look thru some photos. I do not have photos of the old street sign but you can check it out Here.

This store had the open warehouse type. I think clothing wold had been where the carpet is but I'm not 100% right.

I am sorry I couldn't help with the photos as to i only went to this store 1 time. I would had went to Sports Chalet more. Thats it for Sports Chalet. If anyone been to this store that can help locate the photos. That would be great.

This store was one with a different design thats still intact on this day. The store itself was Very Busy unlike the Barnes & Nobel behind toys r us. When Barnes & Nobel announced all stores were going to closed this store closed in 2011 and still sits abandon. In 2015 the center was repainted which now looks more ugly with empty store fronts then before, Just saying. Lets take a long thru the store.
